Talk With the Past ...

Corporal James Anderson was born in 1841, came to Wisconsin with his family as a child, and enlisted in Company A, 5th Wisconsin Volunteers in 1861 to fight in the Civil War. He kept a diary of his Civil War years and wrote many letters home to his family in Manitowoc.

Christopher Goetz's research has resulted in an accurate and provocative account of life in the Union Army through the eyes of a soldier. The program acquaints the audience with the everyday life of a common soldier, including food preparation, weaponry, clothing, and other supply requirements.

Goetz brings to his audiences over twenty years of experience as a storyteller and Civil War re-enactor. He has performed his program numerous times throughout the state for many different types of organizations, including K-12 audiences.

He is currently listed with the Wisconsin Humanities Council Speakers Bureau.
